The Gateway M-152XL a desktop replacement laptop that runs on Intel’s latest “Penryn” technology and includes an ATI graphics card for casual gamers—not bad when you combine this kind of raw horsepower with a high price tag.
The good: Superior performance scores. Fast hard drive. ATI graphics for casual gamers. Slot-loading DVD drive. HDMI port. Inexpensive.
The bad: You will need a bigger battery. Last year’s design. Lacks FireWire.
The bottom line: The Gateway M-152XL is a bargain mainstream laptop that pushes performance limits.
Price: Starting at $1,299.
