Griffin iTrip Auto SmartScan FM Transmitter Review: Great iPod dock, yet mediocre audio quality

Griffin continues to push the envelope with new developments and new innovations with the new iTrip Auto SmartScan FM Transmitter for iPod.

The Good: Portable music player gets linked to Griffin via the dock connector. Also a car charger for your iPod. SmartScan technology will find the best frequency for you. Long cable allows you to place your iPod anywhere you pleas.

The Bad: The quality of the music being broadcast was a notch or two below a real FM radio station. It gets the sound across, but you’ll be listening to the equivalent of a cassette tape.

The Bottomline: Audio quality is really mediocre and given the $80 asking price, you are much better off investing in some sort of iPod integration kit for your car.
