Western Digital My Passport Studio Review: Overall, a great Apple Mac OS X storage solution

The Western Digital My Passport Studio is the Mac OS version of the WD My Passport Elite. It has the same compact case (albeit in a slightly more silver hue), protective port cover, and velvet-like drawstring bag.
The Good: Speedy portable drive. Drive capacity indicator. Protected I/O ports. Both FireWire 400 and USB 2.0. Preformatted for Mac OS X. Works with Time Machine backup.
The Bad: Capacity indicator requires utility installation. Mac OS X (10.4) Tiger users will need a separate backup utility.
The Bottomline: If you were thinking of getting the WD My Passport Elite but have a Mac, get the My Passport Studio instead. It works better with Macs—particularly those running OS X Leopard—and has FireWire to boot (pun intended).
Price: Starting at $125.
