Phillips DC912 for iPod dock Review: Slick speaker w/ wireless subwoofer, remote is too tiny

Posted in: Digital Music, Gadgets

Phillips-DC912 The Phillips DC912 works for all the recent iPod models, including the iPod Touch, and still works reasonably well with any iPod that sports a dock connector.

The Good: Slick-looking iPod/iPhone speaker with wireless subwoofer; rotating dock allows for iPod Touch/iPhone viewing in landscape mode; includes USB and SD/MMC card inputs and wall mounting bracket.

The Bad: Expensive for this level of sound quality; subwoofer is not balanced with the system; black bevel tends to collect fingerprint smudges; no video outputs; remote is too tiny for larger fingers; lack of electromagnetic shielding requires iPhone to be put into airplane mode.

The Bottomline: The Philips DC912 squanders its eye-catching design with subpar sound.

Price: Starting at $175.
